FAQ's

No. Unlike some other high-tech materials, EquaGel® is temperature neutral. It is comfortable in summer and winter.

No. EquaGel® cushions have been tested and proven under years of use in nursing homes and hospital situations. EquaGel® cushions will always instantly return to their original shape.

We believe it's better. Visco-elastic foam has been around for many years and was first developed by NASA. It was designed to be a body conforming cushion to help astronauts withstand the intense forces experienced during take-off and re-entry. After many tests, NASA rejected the material for space flight. Visco-elastic foam has several negatives that people tell us they don't like. First, it has a high heat retention and therefore may tend to "sit hot". Second, it is heat sensitive, so that as the body warms the foam becomes softer and the person tends to sink further into it until the pressure points (ischial tuberosities and/or coccyx/sacrum) hit bottom.

Yes. EquaGel® is perfect for wheelchair use. It is thin and does not add height to the sitting position. The user remains cool and comfortable.

No. EquaGel® is a dry-polymer gel, almost rubbery to the touch. It contains no plasticizers, silicones, or oils, and it will not out-gas. It is hypoallergenic and latex-free.
